The standard

In simple terms, the HybridDesktop tools are each divided into two parts, they have a server component and a client component. These two components communicate with each other. This internal communication of the HybridDesktop tools occurs via network. The end device and the server must therefore be in the same network. If this is not the case, the tools can optionally communicate via a VPN connection.

The channel extension

Often it is not desired by the administrator that an additional VPN connection is created. Especially when using Citrix and the ICA channel, it is mostly not needed at all. This is exactly where HD Channel deploys. The extension enables HD Tools to communicate via the ICA channel (and in the future also via the RDP channel). An additional VPN connection, even only for the HD Tools, is not required anymore.
